Brian got his athletic start on land growing up in Brooklyn, where he played anything with a ball, excelling at soccer. He always saw swimming as an escape, spending every summer visiting family at the beach and swimming for hours in the ocean. But swimming eventually became more than a pastime, as Brian flourished in the sport, and in college, he found himself a member of the swim team with the Brooklyn College Bulldogs, where he was named Performer of the Year for the 2010-2011 season. Brian was a leading force in developing the Bulldogs' aquatics program alongside fellow Imagine instructors James Marty and Brian Fay. In his final season, he was named team Captain, and helped lead the Bulldogs to a third place finish in the CUNYAC Conference. Outside of the pool Brian is a member of the Point Breeze Volunteer Fire Department serving that same beachside community where he grew up, a pursuit he sees as returning the favor for all the years of open water fun and countless waves.
