Entering the facility

Imagine swimmers and parents must enter the facility with valid ID at 77 Harrison St, on the south side of Harrison St (between Greenwich and West St). All parents and caregivers must be ready to present valid ID upon entering the building. Minors are not permitted to enter the facility alone. The pool and locker rooms can be found by taking the elevator to the third floor. Please walk across the sky walk to the north side of Harrison Street. Please take the escalators one flight down & proceed straight down the corridor. The pool and locker rooms will be on the right.

 

Please note: This pool is kept around 80 degrees. A wetsuit is recommended for students who may be sensitive to cooler water.

Seating

Seating for families and caregivers is located on bleachers on the far side of the deck.

Facility rules

Please note that all rules are strictly enforced by the college staff.

  • GENERAL:
    • All families must enter through the main entrance at 199 Chambers St. or 77 Harrison St. entrances. No other entrances will be open to Imagine families.
    • All students must be accompanied by an adult over the age of 18. No minor will be permitted into the facility without an adult.
    • All adults must have valid identification, to be produced upon sign-in at the facility.
    • Please allow extra time before your class to get through security and find the pool.
    • All students registered to swim in this pool must be at least 5 years of age.
    • No street shoes or clothing allowed on decks. Please remove shoes in the locker room before entering the pool area. The swimming pool and decks must be maintained in a sanitary manner for the protection of patrons. Clean flip flops are allowed on the pool deck.
    • Patrons must wear swimming suits, swim caps or swimming trunks upon entry into the pool. Clothing such as cut-offs, gym shorts, and underwear is not permitted as swimwear.
    • No animals, other than a registered service animal, will be allowed onto the BMCC facilitiesBMCC prohibits all animals from entering the pool area. 
    • BMCC is a non-smoking facility which includes the entire facility and the parking lots.
     

    LOCKER ROOMS:

    • Children 7 years of age or older must change in the appropriate locker room.
    • Access to locker rooms is permitted based on the gender identity of the patron.
    • Families may use the facility lockers. A lock is recommended, but cannot be left at the facility beyond your class period. Neither BMCC nor Imagine Swimming is responsible for the loss of or damage to personal property.
    • Food is not permitted in locker rooms.
    • The use of cell phones, cameras, video cameras, baby carriages or any device containing recording equipment of any kind is prohibited in all locker rooms, bathrooms, and changing facilities.

    BEHAVIOR:

    • No patron within the facility shall behave in such a manner as to jeopardize the safety and health of him/her and other patrons. Such behavior, including abusive or profane language, shall be grounds for expulsion.
    • Only the members of the BMCC guard staff and other authorized persons are permitted behind the front desk or in the Pool office or storage room.
    • No roller skates or roller blades, no skateboards, no bicycles and no scooters are permitted to be used or parked within the pool area of the pool premises.
    • Socializing with or distracting the pool staff is prohibited.  
    • Running, boisterous or rough play, pushing, acrobatics, dunking, wrestling, splashing, yelling, diving or jumping haphazardly, snapping of towels, improper conduct causing undue disturbances on or about the pool area or any acts which would endanger any patron are prohibited.
    • Spitting, spouting water, blowing nose, urinating, or defecating in the pool is prohibited.
    • Gum chewing is not permitted anywhere in the pool complex.

    POOL RULES:

    • Swimmers must be free of colds and other contagious diseases. 
    • No hairpins, barrettes, jewelry, bags, shoes or glasses.
    • No food, drink, or gum anywhere on deck.
    • No recreational equipment unless authorized by a lifeguard.
    • All must shower before using pool.
    • No spitting or blowing nose in the pool.
    • All children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
    • No running, pushing, dunking, or rough play in pool area, showers, or locker rooms.
    • No diving in shallow end. The deep end is only to be use when progressing into an advance class and the required instructors and lifeguard is present on the deep end side of the pool. No exceptions.
    • Do not stand, play, or jump off ladders or railings.
    • Stay clear of handicap chair at all times.
    • Starting blocks are off limits.
    • Non-swimmers must stay in the bleacher section of the pool area. No walking around the pool deck.
    • All injuries must be reported to the lifeguard on duty.
    • All must wear a bathing cap. Including instructors when in the water teaching.
    • Always enter the water forward without flipping. 
    • Adults must stay seated in the bleacher area and are responsible for the supervision of the child not taking a swim class.
    • No strollers are allowed on the pool deck or locker room.
    • The pool ladders and stairs are for entering and exiting the pool only; and they should be used only when facing the pool deck and not when facing the pool.
