Meik’s aquatic journey began at the relatively advanced age of 14 through the swimming program at the Institute of Health Professions in Cambria Heights, a Career and Technical Education (CTE) high school focused on healthcare professions. He learned to swim as a member of the Nu Finmen Swim Team through the Swimmers Are Winners program, where an inspirational teacher named Ms. Kay set him on the path to instruction. For Meik, every single day in and around a pool is a fresh opportunity to learn and grow alongside his students. Guided by a philosophy centered on service, he finds his greatest joy in watching a child's mindset shift as they transform into a safer, stronger, and more capable swimmer. When he isn't helping students conquer the water, Meik focuses on working out, meditating, and exploring new subjects.
