Lamar's aquatic roots date back to after-school lessons at a Virginia YMCA, where he first learned to swim at age six. Growing up, summers were spent with much beach time, boogie boarding and floating in the sea, which fueled a lifelong love for the ocean. His dedication to the sport was evident early on: living in a small town, he drove 45 minutes each way for practices, and eventually served as his high school team's captain. A graduate of East Carolina University with a degree in Film, Lamar is passionate about passing on the safety and joy of the water to the next generation. He finds his greatest reward in watching his students' confidence grow. Outside the pool, Lamar enjoys soccer, gaming, and is an avid reader.
