Isabela Arboleda-Ocoro

Teacher

Isabela connection to swimming began in natural bodies of water, where her family, particularly her mother, taught her vital survival skills and a love for lakes, oceans, rivers, and streams..Though she swam competitively with the Houston YMCA, her inspiration for teaching stems from making this life-saving skill accessible to everyone, especially in a city as diverse as New York. An NYU graduate in Studio Art and Social and Cultural Analysis, Isabela finds immense joy in witnessing the triumphant smile on a student's face when they accomplish something they once thought impossible. Outside the pool, this Houston-born artist and advocate is passionate about film photography and non-profit work. Fun fact: One of her front teeth is fake due to a waterpark mishap!
