Valentina was born and raised in Queens. Swimming first became a passion as it was a sport and activity that she and her father bonded over. She began her swimming journey at the age of five, taking classes at the LaGuardia Aquatics Center, where she continued to practice until the age of 14. Throughout her high school years, Valentina worked with children with special needs at Camp Rampo in Rhinebeck, New York. Working with kids on the spectrum brought deep fulfillment, especially when she was able to share the joys of swimming with her students. Valentina is currently completing her degree in Psychology at Hunter College and aims to continue her degree in Forensic Psychology after completing her undergraduate studies.
