As a child growing up in Trinidad and Tobago, some of Tevin's fondest memories were visiting the beaches and swimming with his family. When he moved to Long Island, he stayed connected with the water -- spending countless days fishing on his uncle’s boat. Tevin earned his bachelor's degree at Queens College in biology and initially intended to become a researcher, however, his first job as a swim instructor led him to discover his passion for working with kids. As an educator he found the deep rewards in teaching a life skill and embraced lessons centered around safe fun, helping to foster a lifelong love for the water. In his free time, Tevin enjoys anime, cooking, traveling to parks, and staying outside. He considers himself a "huge nerd", and likes reading new research papers and watching conceptual physics videos.
