Most of Stephanie’s life has revolved around the water. Growing up in Rockland County, Stephanie had a small pool in her backyard that initiated her love for swimming from a very early age. In the summer it was not a rare occurrence that she would spend all day by the pool until sunset. Ironically, she had two near-drowning experiences around the time when she was seven years old. The first was in the Dominican Republic in the deep end of an awkwardly shaped pool that had no depth markers. The other incident was in the deep end of a friend’s backyard pool during which she almost took her cousin down with her. Those experiences did not scare her one bit, proving that nothing can get in the way of true love. Once in high school, she joined the East Ramapo swim team in the tenth grade and swam competitively through the rest of high school. Stephanie has worked as a lifeguard and a swim instructor since 2010 and is just a few credits away from obtaining a Bachelors degree in Psychology from the City College of New York. Through her kind spirit, Stephanie envisions herself helping people in some aspect for the rest of her life and plans to attend nursing school, and eventually, pursue a career in psychology.
