Melisa resides in Rockaway Beach and is the mother of beautiful twins. She has been swimming for as long as she can remember in both pools and the ocean. From the age of six, she swam for USA Swimming clubs team, as well as the Boys and Girls Club in Boston. When she was ten, her family moved to New York and she joined the Cross Island YMCA Barracudas. In high school at Saint Francis Prep, she expanded her aquatic talents, first to diving - competing in the one and three-meet springboard competitions - and also played water polo later at Queens College. Melisa graduated from SUNY Stony Brook, where her minor was Adaptive Aquatics, with a focus on physical therapy and rehabilitation in the water. For six years, she was a Lifeguard with the NYC Parks & Rec in Rockaway Beach. She has been teaching swimming for the past 15 years. When she is on dry land, Melisa is also a New York City school teacher!
