Mackenzie grew up in Santa Clarita, California, where they started swimming lessons as a baby and never let go of their love for swimming. Growing up, Mackenzie competed on the local summer league swim team, and eventually their passion led them to a year-round club team. They spent many years with Canyons Aquatics, competing all over California, and spent three years on their high school’s varsity swim team, competing twice at the CIF state championships. Mackenzie graduated from Hofstra University in May of 2022 with a BFA in Theatre Arts and a minor in Creative Writing. Their passion for teaching started with several years of English and writing tutoring before their love for the water brought them to Imagine. When they’re not in the pool, you can find them scrawling out poems and stories, performing and sound designing in the theatre, or working on projects for their nonprofit Code Read, dedicated to providing new books to children in need. Mackenzie hopes one day to spread chapters of Code Read across the country!
