As a child, one of Keyla's favorite memories is swimming in her backyard pool. At the age of 16, she was diagnosed with Scoliosis and her doctors recommended swimming as the best therapeutic exercise to help her condition. Keyla immediately embraced the sport. Soon after, she earned her Lifeguard certification and worked in outdoor, public pools during the summers. In 2012, she began teaching lessons for the first time, in Astoria, Queens. Keyla attended John Jay College and joined their swim team in 2016 where she specialized in backstroke and freestyle. In addition to her work with Imagine, Keyla also works with an aquatics company that focuses on special needs classes for all ages.
