Javier began swimming competitively earlier than most -- joining his first team, the Flushing Flyers, at the age of six. Through this top-ranked YMCA team, Javier not only learned to love racing, he discovered a passion for the water -- and any activity or job around it! During his years on the team, he qualified for multiple state championships, and was part of an incredible streak that saw the Flyers win the YMCA state title 31-years in a row. During Javier's high school years, he went on to become not just the captain of his school swim team, but in his last year, the coach, as well! He is now studying Political Science and Criminal Justice at Iona College. Javier is also currently serving proudly in the U.S Army National Guard.
