Emily was born and raised in Brighton, Colorado, where she learned to swim at the local recreation center. After that, she spent her childhood playing in pools and water parks near Denver. She joined the Brighton Bullfrogs club team when she was ten-years-old and went on to swim for the Brighton High School Bulldogs, placing in several sectional and state championships. After high school, she swam for the University of Nebraska in Omaha at the NCAA D-I level, specializing in the 200 backstroke and 100 butterfly. Emily earned a Bachelors of Science in Criminal Justice and a Bachelors of Arts in Political Science and in 2023, she graduated from Law School at the University of Nebraska. During her studies, she spent two years clerking with the Housing Justice Project at Legal Aid. Emily is currently studying for the Bar Exam to become a licensed attorney. She plans to use her education to advocate for Tenant's rights in New York City. She joined Imagine Swimming as a break from her office desk and a chance to share her passion for swimming with others. Emily spends her free time chasing discounted tickets to Broadway and local theaters. She also enjoys playing tabletop and board games with friends at a local cafe.
