Edward was a military child who grew up moving around several states. During this itinerant upbringing he cultivated his love for the water as a competitive swimmer. From the age of eight and until his sophomore year of college, he competed on a variety of teams for over a decade. In high school, he was a finalist at Florida and California High School State championships. At the club level, Edward competed at the Speedo Winter and Summer Junior Nationals in the middle distance freestyle and IM events. He matriculated at Columbia University, where he was a member of the men’s swim team, which won the 2017-2018 ECAC Championships. Edward began teaching swim lessons in the summer of 2018. Through his college summers he also progressed from lifeguard to teacher to coach. He graduated from Columbia in May of 2021 with a major in Neuroscience and behavior. In his free time, he loves to play video games, watch TV, and go sight-seeing around the city with his friends.
