Camilo grew up in Bogotá, Colombia, and cannot remember a time when he was not active in sports. His competitive swimming career began when he was 15 and continued into college, where he was a member of the St. Thomas University swim team in Bogotá, as he studied for his degree in Psychology. Upon graduating, Camilo continued swimming, as he moved across the world to Helsinki, Finland in 2012. It was in Finland where he began teaching swimming – and also competed in a duathlon in Switzerland. Camilo has taught swimming to all ages, from Baby Swim classes to senior swimmers over 60-years-old. His experience extends from Helsinki to Houston, Texas, and now in New York City. One of his goals is to be a part of the Human Resources department of an aquatics program, helping to recruit others to the sport that he loves so much.
