Alexa was one of the first children ever to learn to swim at Imagine! In 2002, she began her first lessons -- with co-founder, Lars, as her teacher -- and she continued to swim with us until she was about 10-years-old -- when we created our club team, the Manhattan Makos, where Alexa was among the very first team members! She competed with the Makos from age 10 all the way through her senior year of high school, when she was recruited to swim at Wesleyan University. Alexa always excelled as a backstroker, and mixed it up occasionally with some butterfly and freestyle. At Wesleyan, she swam on the women's varsity team and also lifeguarded and taught lessons when she wasn't busy practicing or studying. After receiving her degree in Psychology, Alexa is now in the midst of getting her masters in Social Work at NYU, with plans to become a forensic social worker and work closely with attorneys and inmates to ensure they get a fair trial. Given her history with Imagine that goes back to our very beginnings, it is a joy and a privilege to welcome her back as an instructor!
