Adam was born and raised in the Bronx. He was the first in his family to play baseball, although he never really excelled at the sport. His love for the water didn't come until later, after learning to swim at the relatively advanced age of 12. In high school, he joined the Madison Square Boys and Girls swim team, and from there, went on to swim for Lehman College. His best stroke was butterfly and in his senior year, Adam won the 100 & 200-yard fly at the CUNY Championships. Adam graduated from Lehman with a major in Art and Minor in Education. He eventually plans to return to school and pursue his masters in Art and Physical Education.
